Two men who allegedly stabbed a married woman with a knife and also attacked her with a machete were on Tuesday denied bail by an Ebute Meta chief magistrates’ court in Lagos.

The accused, Junior Ofuifeme (22), and Emmanuel Uzouma, (24), were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias on a three-count charge of conspiracy, attempted murder and unlawfully causing grievous harm.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Elias, in a ruling, refused the bail application of their counsel and remanded them in prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin, the prosecutor, insisted that the accused committed the offences at No. 32B, Oyebanji St., Oke-Agbo, Shibiri in Ajangbadi on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at 3.00pm on February 6.

She alleged that the accused had attempted to murder Mrs. Chiwendu Okoye (30) while she was trying to stop them from trespassing into her compound.

The offences contravene Sections 230, 245 and 412 of the Criminal Law.

The magistrate adjourned the case to April 16, for DPP’s advice. (NAN)
