A Magistrate court sitting at No Man’s Land in Sabon-Gari area, Fagge local government of Kano state has remanded Ibrahim Ali and Hafizu Bawa in prison over allegation of criminal conspiracy and cheating.

The accused persons, who are staff of the Kano State Library Board, were said to have deceived Usman Muhammad Lawan and Murtala Ali Babba (complainants) and collected 90 bags of 50kg rice valued at N1, 480,000.00 for onward sales to staff of the board.

The complainants told the court that “the accused persons collected the rice with intention to sell it to the staff of the state library board and remit the money to us at the end of June 2016. They have sold the rice but they did not remit the money to us.”

When the charge sheet was read to the accused persons, they denied the content of the sheet.

The presiding judge, Magistrate Maryam Ahmad Sabo ordered for the remand of the accused persons in prison custody till 19th September 2017 for continuation.
