2 remanded over alleged kidnap, rustling of 200 cattle in Ekiti

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of two persons, Ibrahim Abubakar (37) and Adamu Lukman (26), at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Center. The duo is facing charges of conspiracy to kidnap one Olaniyan Gbolahan (26) and one Kazeem, and the rustling of approximately 200 cattle.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offences committed by the defendants are punishable under Sections 280, 279, and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.
The incidents reportedly took place within the Ikole-Ekiti Magisterial District on or about October 23, 2025, at about 10 am.
Inspector Oriyomi said there is a need for further investigation, adding that the original case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and requested the court to grant his ex parte motion for remand.

The defendants were represented by Barrister Oluwafemi Alabi, but their pleas were not taken by the court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that the defendants be remanded.
The case was adjourned until February 24, for mention.
