The Kogi State Police Command says its men have arrested two suspected armed robbers in possession of counterfeit $800,000.
The command’s spokesman, William Ovye Aya in a statement yesterday in Lokoja said the duo of Sofianu Seidu and Aliu Ismaila were arrested from their hideout along the Lokoja-Abuja highway on October 10.
He said operatives attached to the Federal SARS through an intelligence-led operations stormed their hideout and arrested the suspects.
“Items recovered from their hideout include, Eight hundred thousand fake U.S Dollars, one matchete and assorted handsets.
“They both confessed to the crime to being in possession of fake US dollars to defraud unsuspected citizens. They will soon be arraigned in court on completion of investigation”, Aya said.
In a related development the Command has equally arrested one Mohammed Usman for alleged criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping, he said.
He said following a credible information that hoodlums terrorizing innocent citizens along the Okene-Adogo-Ajaokuta road were sighted in their hideout, operatives attached to Federal SARS swung into action, arrested one Mohammed Usman Bello of Fulani Camp Ebiya in Ajaokuta Local Government Area while others escaped.
According to Aya, items recovered from the hideout include one SMG rifle with sixty rounds of live ammunition and handsets.
He said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and that effort is in progress to arrest the other fleeing gang members.
Aya added that the suspect was identified by one time victim of kidnapping in Adogo/Ajaokuta and Okene respectively.
He said all the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
