Two security guards, Shedrack Torkya’a, and Sarki Aso, have been arraigned in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged negligent conduct.

The defendants had pleaded not guilty to a count charge of negligent conduct, while on their duty post.

The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, had told the court that Oluwakemi Olusegun, of Benson Crescent Utako, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on Feb. 24.

Dalhatu said the complainant reported that the defendants posted to her house as security guards, abandoned their duty post, which enabled thieves to enter the building.

He said the thieves stole over 30 fabrics, valued at N150, 000 and others items.

The offences contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must present utility bill and adjourned the case until March 26 for hearing. (NAN)
