Two security guards, Haruna Moses, and Abdulhamid Lawal, have appeared before a Chief Magistrates’ Court Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, over negligence at their security duty post.

The prosecution counsel, Peter Ejike, told the court that the defendants were employees of Europol Security Company deployed to safeguard IHS Internet Providers.

He alleged that due to negligence, six unknown men entered their beat and stole 16 160-DHR batteries belonging to the IHS Internet Providers.

Ejike also explained that the first defendant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Station Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

He urged the court to charge the defendants on one-count charge of negligent conduct contrary to section 196 of the Penal Code Law.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate Ahmed Ndajiwo B. Ndajiwo admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one reasonable surety each and adjourned the case till 29th April, 2020 for hearing.
