2 Sokoto pilgrims die same day

Two pilgrims from Sokoto state, Luba Usman and Musa Haruna, have died in Makkah on Saturday.

Luba was said to have died at about  7am while having breakfast while Haruna died while boarding a bus to Jeddah on their way back to Nigeria.

Haruna who was from Gada local government area was said to have  been on the  queue with his son when he collapsed and died instantly.

According to eyewitness account, Luba who was from Illela local government, attended the dawn prayer after which she went downstairs , collected breakfast and went back to her room in the 5th floor.

Daily Trust learnt that she had started taking her meal when she fainted and died.

Confirming this, the Director General of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Ibrahim Umar, said the pilgrims were  hale and healthy before they’re deaths.

According to him, none of them had any history of sickness as they were medically checked and found fit for the annual Hajj exercise.

On their pilgrim who was arrested for allegedly picking lost property at the grand mosque last Friday, he said he was yet to receive a report on the arrest, assuring that they would try to secure his release.

He said over 500 pilgrims from the state had been airlifted back to Nigeria  and that they were expecting another flights flight on Monday, September 11 which would  take another set of 520 pilgrims back home.

He assured that all the pilgrims would be evacuated before the October,5th deadline.
