The vice chancellor of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, Professor Yohana Daniel Izam, has confirmed the unfortunate attack on a female hostel by suspected hoodlums Sunday night.
The incident also left a 100-level student of Geography of the institution dead after sustaining gunshot injuries.
In a statement yesterday by the Public Relations Officer of the university, John Agam, the vice chancellor said:”The university community and particularly the management of the institution is deeply touched by this act of man’s inhumanity to man and I sincerely extend the deepest sympathy of the management to the deceased parents and the entire university community over this shocking development.”
Izam appealed for calm and cooperation, especially among the students and the university’s campus security committee.
He said the Special Task Force had since swung into action to review the situation with a view to identifying the perpetrators.
