Two suspected car thieves have been arrested while trying to cross the Nigeria-Niger border at Kongolom with a stolen car.

The suspects are Ahmed Moh’d of Kinkina Street, Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna State and Usman Moh’d of Kerau quarters, Katsina State  

The spokesman of Katsina State Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, said the duo, who were part of a syndicate that specialised in car theft, were intercepted on October 26, 2017 at about 12:30am, at Kongolam village, of Katsina State.

He said the suspects were trying to escape into Niger Republic with a stolen motor vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner with registration No. ABJ 225 TL, which they stole from No. 52 Lome Crescent, Wuse, Zone 7, Abuja belonging to one Hajia Maryam Kinasam, a civil servant in Abuja, Nigeria. 

“The suspects are making useful statements and are assisting the police in our investigation,” he added.
