The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected trans-border drug peddlers attempting to cross the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development in a press statement issued in Yola on Wednesday. 

He explained that the suspects—Muhammad Mustapha (32) of Kano State, and Muhammad Sanusi (48) of Garoua, Republic of Cameroon—were arrested in possession of 197 sachets of tramadol.

According to the statement, the suspects were intercepted on Tuesday by operatives of the command’s border patrol unit during an operation at the international border in the Fufore Local Government Area of the state.

“In its ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes, the Adamawa State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of two suspects in possession of 197 sachets of Tramadol,” the statement read.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the illicit substances were transported from a South-Eastern state and were being conveyed through Adamawa with the intention of smuggling them into the Republic of Cameroon.
