2 suspected motorcycle snatchers lynched in Abuja

Two suspected motorcycle snatchers have been lynched by a mob in Dakwa community, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A resident, Abubakar Surajo, told our reporter that the incident occurred around 7 p.m on Friday when the suspects were riding a motorcycle through the community.
According to him, a popular commercial motorcyclist, raised the alarm after allegedly identifying the duo as the men who had snatched his motorcycle the previous week.
Surajo said the rider claimed he recognised the suspects as the same men who had hired him to convey them to a location near Zuma Rock along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway before allegedly robbing him of his motorcycle.
He said a mob, comprising mainly commercial motorcyclists, descended on the suspects, killing one of them on the spot.
“The second suspect jumped off the motorcycle and attempted to escape but was chased, apprehended along the road leading to the neighbouring Dei-Dei community and beaten to death,” he said.
Surajo added that the rider who was on the motorcycle with the suspects was spared after residents suspected he was an okada operator whose motorcycle had also been taken by the suspects.
He further alleged that a hammer, screwdriver and a pair of pliers were recovered from the suspects.
The Divisional Police Officer of the ‘B’ Division, Dei-Dei, CSP Yahaya Doma, confirmed the incident.
He said police officers evacuated the bodies from the scene and deposited them at the Kubwa General Hospital mortuary.
