Two youths suspected to have stolen a Techno phone at Obalende, Lagos, have been granted bail by an Igbosere chief magistrate court.

The accused persons, Kehinde Balogun, 23, and Endurance Joseph, 23, allegedly conspired to commit the offence on April 22, 2019 at about 6pm when they picked the phone from victim’s pocket.

Police prosecutor, Ehizoba Godspower, said that the Techno phone, worth N39,000 belonged to one Mr Babajide Fayomi.

According to Godspower, the alleged offence was contrary to Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. If found guilty, the two men could be sentenced to three years each in jail.

Balogun and Joseph pleaded not guilty.

Ruling on their bail applications, the chief magistrate, F. O. Sansaya, ordered that the accused persons be admitted to N50,000 bail each, with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the magistrate, must be blood relations to the suspects.

Trial in the case has been fixed for May 16, 2019.
