The police on Wednesday arraigned two women before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly abducting a 13-year-old girl.
The defendants are 50-year-old Funke Aire and 27-year-old Divine Richard.
The duo, whose addresses were not provided, are facing charges bordering on conspiracy and abduction.
They both, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 12, at about 9:23 pm at Agbomimo, near the First Storey Building in Badagry, Lagos. (NAN)
He alleged that the defendants conspired to abduct the 13-year-old girl without her parents’ consent.
According to the prosecution, the defendants were eventually apprehended by members of the public, who handed them over to the police for prosecution.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 23, for mention. (NAN)
