The family of a two-year-old boy, Ivan Omhonria, who was allegedly killed by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Delta State, has been buried.

Addressing newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, the deceased’s father, Mr Fidelis Omhonria, said that the family was going through a trying time.

According to him, “We just finished the funeral service now at the St. Vienna Catholic church, DBS road.

“And he has been laid to rest at burial ground. He has gone to his maker. Our concern now is how to treat the other child (his sibling).

City & Crime learnt that NDLEA from operational headquarters and others were present at the burial ground and they were helping to fast track visa for the other boy to the United States for further treatment.

“The Delta state government has written to the US embassy to fast-track the process so that the boy can go for treatment,” he added.

It would be recall that operatives of NDLEA, Delta command allegedly shot two brothers on Thursday July 13th, when they were chasing drug peddlers and purportedly shot sporadically into the air in Okpanam, a suburb of Asaba, Oshimili north LGA of the state.

It was learnt that the children were in their mother’s shop, a cake baker and owner of Hillsi Cakes N More Academy, after closing from school when the bullets hit them.

It was gathered that the stray bullet touched the younger of them on the eye while the older one was hit on his abdomen and they were rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Asaba, where one of them was confirmed dead.

It would be recalled that the police in the state arrested the operative, whose stray bullet allegedly killed the boy.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police Force headquarters has taken over investigation into the case.
