Twenty people have been arrested for violating the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Nasarawa State.

The State Government has restated its commitment towards taking punitive actions against residents who violate the state monthly environmental laws to serve as deterrent to others.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in the state, Musa Ibrahim, said this at the end of this month’s environmental sanitation in Lafia.

“Considering prevailing health challenges associated with poor personal hygiene, especially the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic, the state government would not relent in ensuring that residents imbibe cleanliness of their environment as an obligation.”

He called on residents of the state to see the environmental laws as measures aimed at safeguarding their lives.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance to this month’s exercise, saying the number of arrests for violation has reduced due to sustained sensitisation of the public.
