20 committees get chairmen, deputies

Five of the most critical committees have two co-chairmen each, while the remaining 15 each have a chairman and a deputy.
The co-chairmen of the five committees are: former governor of Akwa Ibom state Obong Victor Attach and former Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Coomassie (devolution of power); Mohammed Umara Kumalia and retired General Ike Nwachukwu (political restructuring and forms of governments); former Minister of Information Prof. Jerry Gana and former Minister of Finance Chief Olu Falae (politics and governance); former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ken Nnamani (political parties and electoral matters); and Bishop Felix Ajakaiye and Alhaji Nuruddeen Lemu (religion).
Other committee chairmen and their deputies are: former Inspector General of Police Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta and former director general of the State Security Service (SSS) Chief Albert Horsfall (national security); Senator Florence Ita-Giwa and Yadoma Bukar Mandara (environment); Justice G.A. Oguntade and Prof. Auwalu Yadudu (law, judiciary and human rights); Iyom Josephine Anenih and Prof Rukayyatu Rufa’i (social sector); and Senator Musa Adedeh and Assistant Inspector General of Police Ralph Ola Osanaiye (transportation).
Others are: Dr Daniel G. Maddo and High Chief Raymond Dokpesi (science, tech and development); Umaru Muhammad Hadejia and Mrs I. Idigbe (agriculture); Mrs Bola Ogunrinade and Issa Aremu (civil society, labour and sports); Engr Ebele O. Okeke and Amb. Adamu Aliyu (public service); and Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and Amb. Lawrence Ekpebu (foreign policy and diaspora).         
The remaining committees’ chairmen and their deputies are: retired General A.B. Mamman and Oba Michael Gbadego A. Adedeji II (land tenure and national boundaries); Hajiya Bola Shagaya and Fola Adeola (economy, trade and investment); former Governor of Oyo state Rashid Ladoja and Engr Suleiman Bello (energy); former Governor of Kebbi state Adamu Aliero and Senator Azu Agboti (public finance and revenue) and HRH Muhammad Zaiyanu Abdullahi and Ms Chidinma Uwajumogu (immigration and related matters).
The conference chairman Justice Idris Kutigi announced that the committees would begin work on Tuesday after Easter break.
He said 10 of the committees would be sitting at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) complex, venue of the conference, while the remaining 10 would sit at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.
Plenary session has been suspended until the committees conclude their assignment in three weeks’ time.
