Residents of Kaamem/Bambam communities behind Federal Lowcost Housing Estate along Naka Road in Makurdi metropolis heaved a sigh of relief as work started on their access road after more than 20 years of waiting. 

Elder Godwin Akor, a resident of the area, said that for over two decades, the Kaamem/Bambam communities were not accessible during the rainy season due to bad roads.   

Akor praised Governor Samuel Ortom, whom he said had finally heard their cries and started work on the access roads to make life much easier for residents of the area. 

“The people are ready to reciprocate Ortom’s kind gesture when the time comes,” Akor said. 

Similarly, the Ter Makurdi, Chief Vincent Aule, thanked Ortom for the laudable projects he had been executing in his domain. 

Similarly, other residents of the area said the opening up of the roads would also boost commercial activities in the area. 

The residents, who could not hide their joy when work started on the road recently showed their appreciation when they poured into the street to thank Ortom when he went to inspect the project.  

He noted that the road projects under construction in the Makurdi metropolis are part of his administration’s urban renewal initiatives.  

The governor commended youths in the areas for not engaging in theft of materials.
