Two hundred Akwa Ibom youths from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area trained in different skills have said the knowledge acquired will keep them away from being idle.
The youths who were trained in paint making, cosmetology, make up and catering and presented with certificates of participation, explained that they had been equipped for a life of great opportunities.
Speaking on behalf of the other youths whose training was facilitated by the local government Chairman of Ibiono Ibom, Mr Ekopimo Edet, one of the beneficiaries, Uwakmfon Edet, said the programme was an answer to what they had yearned for.
While appealing for financial assistance from the local government council for them to establish small scale businesses, Edet assured that they would not go back to idleness again.
The Chairman, Mr Ekopimo Edet, said he was happy with the success of the programme.
He said the council would provide the necessary assistance needed for them to actualise the dream of becoming business owners.
“I want to challenge all of you not to let it end here. Think about tomorrow, think of how you can move further from here. I can assure you that the council will support you as far as you can go. We will make recommendations, we will patronise you, and also assist you.
“With this, we would be encouraged to commence the second phase of the training so that we can build and motivate the spirit of entrepreneurship in our youths,” he stated.
