200 Nigerians to graduate with first class degrees in the Philippines

The students were among the over 2, 500 Nigerians studying in the universities of Perpetual Help Laspinas, Lyceum and the University of Cebu, under the Seafarers Development Programme of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Representatives of the three universities stated this in Lagos at a party they organized in honor of their Nigerian students.
The Dean, Maritime Academy, University of Perpetual Help Laspinas, Philippines, Admiral Tamayo Wilfredo (rtd), while extolling the performance of the students, said that the students will graduate in June.
He said that the goal of the university is to produce quality, skillful and experienced graduates that will contribute to the economic development of Nigeria.
He urged all the students, particularly those who would be graduating, to bring their knowledge to bear in all their endeavours.
“Nigerians here are doing very well. We’re proud of them. From marine engineering to naval architecture, Nigerians are dominant in these areas. We wish them the best.
“We don’t take discipline for granted here. The standards are high and it’s either you meet up, pass or you drop below standard and fail.”
Also, the Vice Chancellor of the Lyceum University, Dr Esmenia Javier, charged the students to work hard for their country after graduation.
“The price is to learn well. Nigerian government selected the best. They have showed signs of seriousness. I admire the Nigerian government for this programme.”
Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, the director general of NIMASA, represented by the agency’s director of maritime labour and cabotage services, Barr. Obi Callistus Nwabueze, urged the students to be good ambassadors of Nigeria in the Philippines.
