The Saudi-based Muslim World League, on Thursday, disbursed N2.1 billion to support the education of 2,000 orphans in Kebbi State.

Al-Amin Ahmed Hamza, Acting Director General of the organisation in Nigeria, said a total of N7.6 billion has been allocated for the education of orphans in selected states, including Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, and Borno.

He noted that Kebbi received the largest portion due to its high number of orphans.

According to Hamza, beneficiaries will receive amounts ranging from N400,000 to N1,000,000, with a system in place to monitor the proper use of the funds for the intended purpose.

Hamza also encouraged wealthy individuals to follow the example of the Muslim World League by offering similar support to orphans and the less privileged across the country.

Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Umar Abubakar Tafida, commended the organisation for its humanitarian efforts, particularly in supporting the education of orphans.

He urged the guardians of the beneficiaries to ensure the funds are used solely for the children’s educational advancement to improve their future prospects.

One of the beneficiaries, Hassana Yahaya, expressed gratitude to the Muslim World League, noting that the financial support would significantly aid in pursuing their education.
