Garba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Friday that the 2012 edition of the tournament stood out among others since the inception of the games in 2007.

“The organising committee of this tournament has done an excellent job. From my interactions with various contingents and other members of the executive, this is the best media games ever.”

The president attributed the success to the collaboration between the Executive Council of the NUJ and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) as well as the `magnanimous sponsorship’ by the Taraba Government.

“Involving stakeholders is key to success in everything. We used zones as structures in the tournament rather than states, we also used both national and local organising committees.

“We have achieved enormous success so far and I am very optimistic that the record will be maintained throughout the competition.

“The NUJ will continue to work towards raising the standard of the media games. It is my prayer that subsequent editions of the competition will be more organised.” (NAN)
