Taylor Swift’s epic 2015 might get even sweeter at the American Music Awards (AMA).
Swift has been nominated for six nominations at the show, it was announced on Tuesday. Already a 16-time AMA winner, the 1989 star would become the female artiste with the most AMA wins should she take home the prize in all her categories. (Currently, the late Whitney Houston holds the title with 21 wins.)
Beyoncé and Rihanna have the chance to reign supreme in the favourite soul/R&B female artiste category – they’re both nominated this year and are tied with Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey, all of whom have scored the award four times.
Meanwhile, Calvin Harris might also join the record-breaking department if he wins favourite electronic dance music artiste. With one win already under his belt, Harris would become the category’s new leader.
Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth announced the AMA nominations on ABC’s Good Morning America, Snapchat and the ABC News livestream from New York City on Tuesday.
Nominated for his work on ‘See You Again,’ “Puth told ‘PEOPLE’ that he’s “going to cry” if he and Wiz Khalifa win – but jokes that he’ll stay strong for the rapper.
“I’m going to lose it. I’m going to wipe those tears away and be like, ‘I’m strong man,’” he said. “Wiz is going to be all cool.”
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to vote for their favourite artistes on AMA website, Facebook and Twitter starting on November 1.
Jennifer Lopez is set to host the show from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 22.
