Speaking at the inaugural conference of the organisation, former president of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) Mr Chris Uwaje said the challenges of cyber security cuts across all sectors as much awareness is not in place to sustain a free cybercrime society.
According to Uwaje, a platform must be created to secure channels through which IT is used to address the cybercrime menace.
He said government should also put in place solid regulatory framework to protect electronic processes.
Uwaje who stressed the need for a strict compliance to the law prosecuting offenders said there should be synergy between regulator and the judiciary to enable them track down offenders.
He urged government to work with consultants who are skilled on cyber security to help tackle issue on cybercrimes as the country is losing her trust element in online business transactions.
He commended the activities of ITSSP and urges them to be persistent in tackling issues on cybercrimes and implementation of the cybercrime law.
Meanwhile, President of ITSSP, Mr Rogba Adeoye noted that the organisation is putting in place security strategies to sustain a free cybercrime society.
He said the challenge of security in the country is as a result of lack of security professionals and the organization is setting policy initiative to improve the level of information security consciousness and building human capacity on skill development in information security.
