Speaking at the inauguration of the Joseph Daudu, SAN, led Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee on Wednesday in Abuja, NBA president Augustine Alegeh, SAN, stated that the role of the committee is very crucial at this point in time as the nation approaches the 2015 general elections.
He said that all lawyers partici-pating would be required to make statutory declarations of non-political affiliation which would if found to be false lead to disciplinary measures against such a lawyer.
The members of the committee are Joseph B. Daudu SAN – Chairman Kaduna branch; Mr. Momodu Kasim-Momodu-Alt. Chairman Benin Branch; Mrs. Pat Igwebuike – Secretary  Oji River Branch; Aliyu Nassarawa Esq – member -Kano Branch; Ogbonnaya Igwenyi Esq – member  Aba Branch; Omobu Victor Frank-Briggs – memberPort-Harcourt; Austin Ajineh Esq – mem-ber Warri Branch; Mrs. Iyabode O. Ogunseye-member-Abuja Branch; Vivian Ekezie – member-Lagos and Usman Sule Esq – member Lokoja branch.
Alegeh noted that: “In the past, the NBA had been actively involved in other areas like election monitoring, electoral justice, training and capacity building for ad-hoc and professional personnel through our election working group. The work of this committee is different and distinct from the work of the Election Working Group. However, where possible both committees though with different mandates on elections may cooperate to achieve the overall objective of the NBA which is to ensure hitch free elections in Nigeria.”
Also inaugurated was the NBA property development/building committee, whose members are – D.D. Azura Esq – Yola; Chief Gweke Akudihor – Warri branch ; Mrs. Safiya I. Balarabe – Lafia branch; Chidi Onyuike Esq –  Onitsha branch; Efefiom Ekong – Calabar branch; Yinka Farounbi Esq – Ikeja branch; Folake Abiodun Esq. –  Ibadan  and Murtala Kankia Esq. – Katsina; Emmanual Ubua Esq – Secretary – Ogoja branch and Okey Wali, SAN as Chairman – Port-Harcourt branch.
The NBA select committee was equally inaugurated with Chief Ferdinand Orbih SAN as Chairman – Benin branch. The members are Oluwaseun Ajoba Esq – Ilesha branch; Adamu Turaki Mohammed Esq – Dutse branch; Luka Musa Haruna Esq. –  Gombe branch; Mrs. Blessing Amadi Esq – Port-Harcourt; Paul Daudu Esq – Abuja branch and Ogochukwu Okeke Esq. – Secretary – Nnewi branch.
