Former military head of State and Chieftain of All Progress Congress , (APC), General Muhammed Buhari said today in Port Harcourt that APC will do everything within the ambit of law to ensure that 2015 general election is credible and devoid of electoral malpractices. Buhari, who spoke at APC rally  in Port Harcourt,  said the party is on ground and is ever ready to ensure that the 2015 election is free and fair.

“APC as a party will do everything constitutionally to ensure that there is credible election in Nigeria. Most of you have not been born when we fought to entrench on indivisible Nigeria. Nigeria has the required resources to develop the nation but we are yet to witness development. The dawn of democracy brought about excitement and enthusiasm from Nigerians but after 14 years of democracy change has not come” he said.

The former head of State said APC will bring about the desired change Nigerians needed. He commended Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi for his courage and pointed out that the party will support Amaechi to deliver democratic gains to the people of Rivers State.

The national Chairman of APC Chief Bisi Akande commended members of house of Representative for taking the bold step to defect to APC despite threat from the ruling party to declare their seats vacant. “When we visited Rivers State a couple of weeks ago we begged you people to join our party but today our prayer has been answered as Rivers State is now an APC State” he stated.

The national leader of APC Senator Asiwaju Almed Tinubu in his speech described Amaechi as a wonder boy who is determined to liberate Rivers State from the shackles of corruption and bad leadership.”We want Amaechi in APC because of his courage and determination to liberate Rivers people from corruption and bad leadership.without your courage we would not witness what we are seeing today. Your courage has made Rivers State to be captured by APC. Today is the launching of broom revolution. We are here to sweep out corruption, bad leadership and abuse of power from Rivers State”

“We are here to remove termite and cockroaches of bad corruption and nepotism. Our revolution for change started with 5 governors to 8 governors to 11 and now we have 16 governors in our fold” he said.

He commended the members of house of representatives for the bold steps they took to defect to APC and said the the party bring about the desired change Nigerians are yearning for.

Also speaking the interim South-South zone Vice Chairman of APC Chief Tom Ikimi said the gathering of APC leaders in Port Harcourt is a turning point in the political history of Rivers State. He stated that APC revolution has swept across Kano, Sokoto, Borno , Adamawa. And Kwara , Rivers and Edo States stressing that “with Rivers and Edo states firmly in APC, the conquest of Delta State is imminent”.

He claimed that South-South zones has been taken over by the APC and advised President Jonathan to be weary of those that parade themselves around him as South-South leaders stressing that “they are impostors out to extort money from Mr President”.

Earlier Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi said he is one of those listed  in the purported political list claimed by President Obasanjo targeted to be eliminated by President jonathan.

 He called on federal government to allow both world bank and agricultural development bank to carry out the proposed water project in the State.
