Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that it will commence distribution of money to 2016/2017 pilgrims in the state next week following the refund of N129 million by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The overseer of the Board, Malam Imam Hussaini Tsoho, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday.
He explained that the total sum of over N129 million is to be disbursed to 2016 and 2017 pilgrims in the state.
He said, “Those that would benefit from the said sum are those that could not perform the hajj exercise either due to sickness or pregnancy or other reasons.
The fund will equally be refunded for certain services that were supposed to render to the pilgrims in the Holy Land but could not be rendered by NAHCON.”
The overseer said 29 pilgrims who were unable to go on pilgrimage will be refunded all their money with the exception of administrative charges including cost of main and hand luggage as well as the uniform which had already been given to them.
He added that 6,668 ordinary pilgrims who performed the 2017 hajj exercise will receive over N12,000 and the 50 officials and medical team will receive over N3,000.
He stated that over N20 million will be refunded back to the 25 affected pilgrims for 2016 that paid for their hajj seats but could not make the trip adding that 5,547 pilgrims who performed hajj in 2016 will be refunded with over N1,000.
He appealed to the 2016/2017 pilgrims to go with their international passports and their payment receipts to the respective local government where they registered and purchased their seats for onward collection of refunds.
Tsoho furthered urged pilgrims to appear in person when the distribution commences next week with a view to ensuring a hitch free exercise.
