The National Commandant, Peace Corp of Nigeria (PCN),   Diksoh  Akoh, has said the passage of the 2016 budget, which is largely geared towards wealth and job creation for the young people, would  help stem the tide of corruption, underdevelopment and terrorism across the country.
Akoh stated this during a joint meeting of the board of trustees and council of state commandants of the corps held at its Abuja headquarters.
He enjoined the youths to be patient with the present administration in fixing the socio-economic  challenges  currently facing the country  and to be  mindful of those calling for a quick fix of the economy, saying all over the world, no realistic economic change was been achieved overnight.
“We applaud the Central Bank of Nigeria for the N10 billion Youth Innovative Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YIEDP) and also admonishing that the bank ensures that the funds get to the right persons, especially at the grassroots,” he said.
The PCN commandant commended the federal government for making youth empowerment as a cardinal objective of his administration.
Akoh said that PCN currently has 113,822 staff officers and 78,246 registered volunteer corps members across the 36 states and the FCT with the aim of harnessing them towards the socio-economic development of the country.
