Senator Philip Aduda, representing the FCT, yesterday met with executives and stakeholders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the territory, calling on them to remain united and peaceful ahead of the 2019 elections.
Aduda made the call when he was led on a tour by the FCT chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, and other executives to Abaji.
He said there was need for members and party stalwarts to remain resolute in ensuring that PDP wins all elective positions, from the federal to state and local government levels in 2019.
Aduda said he decided to embark on tour across the six area councils to intimate executives, stakeholders, members as well as his supporters that he would be contesting for the FCT Senate seat in 2019. He therefore urged them to remain peaceful and united as one family to champion the cause of winning all elections in 2019.
“There had been pressure on me, especially from my supporters across the six area councils asking me to contest again for the FCT Senate seat, and I have seen the need to answer their call to embark on tour to tell them that I have accepted to run in 2019,” he said.
Also speaking, the FCT PDP chairman said the party would not impose any candidate on the masses, saying it would only accept candidates presented by the majority of the people.
“The era of imposition of candidates is over, because what we are interested in is to win elections, hence, we shall be fair to all contestants participating in the primaries where consensus has failed,” he said.
