2019: Why I’m in FCT senate race – Ireti Kingibe

An aspirant for the FCT senatorial seat in the 2019 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajiya Heebat Ireti Kingibe, has said she is contesting the position to help actualise the dream of the natives to have a mayor.
Kingibe, who spoke with our reporter after a meeting of the 46 APC ward executives of Abuja South in Abaji, at the weekend, said FCT people need a mayor so that they can also participate in election as the other states of the federation.
She also said youth empowerment was one of her priorities if she was given the mandate by the people of the FCT come 2019, adding that she has the capacity to work directly with the FCT administration or any ministry within the territory to ensure that the youth were fully employed.
“And I also feel that maybe, because of the lack of those policies, we don’t have quotas for schools, universities, police, immigration, prisons, among others. As the constitution says, FCT should be treated like a state. So whatever goes to other states, should also be given to the FCT,” she added.
