One of the aspirants for the sole senatorial seat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Usman Jibrin Wowo, has met with the party’s ward executives in Abaji Area Council.
Wowo said people of the FCT needed good representation at the Senate by someone who had connection both within and outside the Senate to pursue issues that affected them.
He said there were three major challenges in the FCT: non-appointment of a native as FCT minister, lack of mayoral status and absence of a House of Assembly.
“I want to assure you, if given the mandate, I shall pursue these major challenges facing people of the FCT. Because with the connection I have, I shall pursue them and succeed,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the Abaji APC ward executives, Chairman of North East Ward, Abagana Yahaya Haruna, assured him of their support.
Haruna noted that since the aspirant was once at the Senate for a period of eight months before his exit on court order, there was no doubt that he had garnered some experience and connection that would address the challenges of people of the FCT.
On his part, the campaign director general to the senatorial aspirant, Alhaji Muhammad Angulu Loko, said it was now time for Abuja South to produce a senator to represent FCT.
