The Igbo Project Arewa Support Group has declared support for a president of Igbo extraction come 2023, arguing that it is time for the South East zone to produce the president of the country.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kano, the national coordinator of the group, Barrister Mustapha Imam, said the decision came after consultations with relevant stakeholders and interest groups.

He argued that there was need for power shift to the South East region in 2023 for justice, unity, progress and stability of the country.

Imam said, “At the end of our consultations, we arrived at the decision for the sake of equity, justice, unity and progress of the country to support the South East to produce the next president,” he said.
