Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Saturday flagged off his re-election campaign by receiving thousands of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Receiving the decampees that included prominent members of the PDP, the governor boasted that the APC will win the forthcoming general election with a landslide merging, given the party’s incredible performance in the state.
Governor Yahaya stated that the APC administration in the state has substantially delivered on its campaign promises.
He said in addition to the performance of the APC administration in the state, the structural formation of the party is further strengthened through the massive decamping of some notable PDP stalwarts and their supporters to its fold.
Gombe APC constitutes 240-member campaign council
On his part, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, described the mass turnout of the people of the state as a clear testament to the leadership ingenuity and political sagacity of Governor Yahaya.
He encouraged the governor not to be swayed by the antics of the few, but to be firm and decisive as he goes about administering policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
The APC National Chairman expressed confidence that the party will perform excellently in the forthcoming election at all levels.
Our correspondent reports that during the rally, Mr Charles Iliya, former Deputy Governor of the state during Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, administration, former PDP governorship aspirant, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, and several others were formally received into the APC.
