Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday, held a closed door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the former President’s residence in Abuja.
Ortom served as minister of state, trade and investments, and later the supervising minister, ministry of aviation, under former President Jonathan.
The meeting is coming after reports that the former president had joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and was billed to contest the presidency under the ruling party.
According to Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, “The duo met behind closed doors for more than 40 minutes and discussed frankly. Although none of them spoke to the press when they came out, they were beaming with smiles with the former president exchanging pleasantries.”
Discussion between the two party leaders was said to be centered on the fortunes of PDP and the victory of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
Ortom was accompanied by some members of Benue state executive council.
