Prominent female politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have demanded the vice-presidential ticket of the party come 2023.

The female politicians in the party, who spoke during the Women Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting on Monday in Abuja, said the seat should be ceded to them.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Grace Folashade Bent said, “We are saying that in 2023 if our political party does not present a female as vice presidential candidate, we are not going to support them.

“So set the ball rolling: all-female stakeholders, leaders, tell the party, give us a female vice-presidential candidate otherwise, we will all sit home, we shall not vote.

“This meeting should help us to galvanise all these weapons that we have, take it up and run with it in 2023,” she added.

A former House of Representatives leader, Mulikat Areola-Akande, also said women must make a difference in 2023.

Earlier, the PDP Women Leader, Hajiya Mariya Waziri said, “Amidst all distractions, disruptions and insinuations, if we only achieve the mass inclusion of women into our political space, we would have achieved our central goal which is what is most important.”

When contacted, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said their demand would be tabled before the party.
