Gov Dapo Abiodun
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, ordered all serving political appointees in his government to immediately resign their appointments and pursue their ambition ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Abiodun, in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, in Abeokuta, asked them to resign on or before Jan 31, 2022.
The governor declared that the directive had become imperative following the “observed distractions and loss of focus in the discharge of their responsibilities.”
Our correspondent gathered that top government appointees in Abiodun’s cabinet have begun scheming to actualise their aspirations ahead of the next elections.
At least two of the governor’s appointees have resigned their appointments in the last month.
Akingbolahan Adeniran quit his job as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, while Muyiwa Oladipo, a former Speaker in the state, resigned as a consultant to the governor.
However, the governor noted that it is legitimate to have ambitions, but such must not undermine his administration’s agenda for the state.
