Following the completion of party primaries at both state and national levels of especially the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the country, we can say so far, so good now.

It is pertinent to note that democracy is not a do or die affair but a system of government, in which a minority group of people is elected by the majority with a view to represent them when it comes to matters of their legitimate rights and privilege.

These rights include the provision of health care delivery services, sound education, potable water supply, security, employment opportunities, electricity supply, roads network, food security and entire human development.

This is the right time for Nigerians particularly the electorate to remain fully aware and know their civic responsibility. They should be ready to participate fully in the forthcoming general elections. They should come en mass to exercise their civic right during the election come 2023.

However, exercising this civic responsibility should go beyond just coming out and voting. They should be very extra careful in electing the right people whom they have hope and confidence that they will do the needful by ensuring good governance for the betterment of the entire citizens of the country.

The electorate should also not vote for region, religion or tribe but vote for the right people regardless of their region, religion or tribal inclinations.

There is a need also for eligible voters, who are yet to collect their permanent voters cards (PVCs) and those who are yet to register at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within their respective domains across the country to be steadfast and ensure they get their voters cards as registration is still ongoing nationwide.

We must keep in mind that it is only those who have permanent voters cards who will have the right to vote and it is our weapon to kick out those who did not perform well or misrepresented us in government. It will enable us to choose those we have confidence who will do the needful through good governance for our betterment.

This is also the only way to ensure that Nigeria makes good progress and found its proper place in the comity of prosperous nations.

Nigeria is one of the countries in Africa where insecurity has been a major challenge and this can only be addressed by electing good leaders.

Both Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinibu as well as contestants from other smaller parties are qualified to lead Nigeria. But we must pray and work to ensure that only those who will move our country forward succeed at the election.
