Stakeholders drawn from artisans, youths, students, professionals and the business community in Adamawa State have jointly endorsed Senator Aminu Iya Abbas for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 election.

The endorsement was announced in a joint press statement issued in Yola on Wednesday and signed by leaders of four major interest groups across the state.

The leaders include: Comrade Aliyu Liman, Artisans Association of Adamawa State (AAAS); Aisha Abdullahi, Coalition of Adamawa Youth For Good Governance (CAYGG); Engr. Murktar Adamu, Adamawa Businessmen’s Forum (ABF) and Dr. Lawal Abdullahi, Adamawa Professionals Network (APN).

The groups described Senator Abbas, who represents Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, as the most credible aspirant capable of securing victory for the PDP and delivering inclusive development to the state.

One of the signatories, Comrade Aliyu Liman of AAAS, said the endorsement was based on the senator’s “proven record of service, grassroots connection and visible impact across communities.”

“We have closely observed Senator Aminu Iya Abbas’ track record and we are convinced that he remains the best option for the PDP in 2027. His leadership has consistently translated into tangible results for ordinary people,” Liman said.

Also lending her voice, Coordinator of CAYGG Abdullahi, noted that the senator’s focus on education, youth empowerment and innovation stood him out among his peers.

“From scholarships to job facilitation and youth empowerment programmes, Senator Abbas has shown genuine commitment to the future of young people in Adamawa. He represents hope and continuity of good governance,” she said.

The statement highlighted Abbas’ legislative journey, including his tenure as a two-term member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2019, where he served in several leadership capacities before emerging as Speaker from 2019 to 2023.

According to the statement, since his election to the Senate in 2023, Abbas has sponsored and co-sponsored several bills, including those seeking the establishment of federal institutions in Song and Hong, as well as reforms in electricity billing and flood mitigation along River Benue.

For the business community, Engr. Murktar Adamu of the Adamawa Businessmen’s Forum (ABF) said the senator’s economic interventions and grants had boosted small and medium-scale enterprises across the state.

“His empowerment initiatives, particularly grants to women and youths and support for chambers of commerce, have strengthened local businesses and created opportunities at the grassroots,” Adamu stated.

On his part, Dr. Lawal Abdullahi of the Adamawa Professionals Network (APN) stressed that Abbas’ professional background as a chartered accountant and forensic expert positions him to manage state resources transparently.

“Adamawa needs a governor with integrity, competence and experience. Senator Abbas’ background in public finance and anti-corruption work gives him a clear edge,” Abdullahi said.

The groups also cited the senator’s constituency projects, humanitarian interventions and advocacy on flood control, electricity reform and agricultural development as evidence of his preparedness to govern the state.

They called on PDP leadership to grant Abbas the party’s governorship ticket, insisting that his candidacy would guarantee a landslide victory in 2027.

“To the PDP leadership, we urge you to award Senator Aminu Iya Abbas the ticket without hesitation. His emergence will not only secure victory but ensure sustainable development and a lasting legacy for Adamawa State,” the statement concluded.
