Former Minority Leader of the 9th Senate, Senator Philip Aduda, on Wednesday met with executives and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bwari and Kwali Area Councils, where he formally declared his intention to contest the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat in the 2027 general election on the party’s platform.

Aduda, a close ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was recently endorsed by Wike during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the minister’s residence in Life Camp, Abuja.

The meeting was attended by FCT stakeholders and traditional rulers led by the Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, HRM Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa.

Speaking at the gathering, Wike urged stakeholders and traditional rulers not to allow a repeat of the outcome of the 2023 election, calling on them to mobilise support and votes for Aduda’s return to the Senate in 2027.

Addressing party executives and stakeholders on Wednesday, Aduda said his desire to return to the Senate was driven by the need to consolidate on his achievements during his previous tenure in the National Assembly.

He highlighted several bills he sponsored while in office, including those seeking the establishment of the College of Education, Zuba, and the Abuja University of Technology in Abaji, as well as legislation aimed at improving salaries and welfare for magistrates in the FCT judiciary.

Also speaking, former FCT Senator, Isah Maina, called on residents and stakeholders in the territory to support Aduda’s candidature ahead of the 2027 senatorial election.
