Former Minority Leader of the Ninth Senate, Senator Philip Aduda, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aduda, a close ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was declared winner on Monday night by the Chairman of the party’s electoral committee and Returning Officer, Dr. Gogwan Koptong Bangs, at the Nicon Luxury Suites in Abuja, which served as the collation centre.

Bangs said Aduda’s emergence followed the withdrawal of one of the aspirants, Hajiya Amina Zanna Ibrahim, who announced her decision to step down from the race in the presence of security operatives and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking with journalists shortly after his victory, Aduda expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates and supporters across the six area councils of the FCT.

He pledged to work towards the unity and electoral success of the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.

The former senator also assured party faithful of his commitment to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while promising to strengthen the APC structure across the territory.

“I will lead from the front to ensure victory for our party. Anything standing in the way of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid will be confronted politically,” Aduda said.

Aduda further noted that the ongoing infrastructural development under the leadership of Wike has boosted the APC’s acceptance among residents of the FCT.

“You can see the massive transformation going on across the FCT — roads, bridges, expansion of infrastructure and development across communities. Residents now have every reason to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu,” he said.

He also promised to sponsor laws and policies aimed at promoting good governance and improving the welfare of residents of the territory.
