2027: AI expert joins Ogun Gov’ship race, says people are tired

An Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert, Dr Biodun Collins Ogundipe, has declared his intention to run in the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Ogundipe, a Canada-based Nigerian Aerospace Engineer, Technologist and Social Innovator, said Ogun electorates and residents are tired of the current system and yearn for a better alternative.

Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday, the young politician vowed to leverage strength of the youth as well as the elderly and retirees whose pension and gratuities, he said, are not being paid regularly.

“In Ogun State, (our) chances are very high, unless you are not tired of what is currently going on. I have been to 10 local government areas in past one week or two. I’m a field person, I’m a researcher, I’m an academia, I deal with facts on the ground. People are tired.

“They are spending a lot of money that’s coming back from the fuel subsidy, but we are not seeing the effects.

“Not because I’m a youth, I will leverage that, but even the older ones are tired,” he said.

He said with his experience, he would put in place the right policies in order to entrench good governance in the state.

Ogundipe also promised to adopt a technology approach to solving hydra – headed security and socioeconomic challenges in the state.

He highlighted opportunities and wealth in the digital space, insisting that “Nigeria has not scratched the surface of the AI adoption.”

On the chances of ADC in Ogun State, the AI expert said “It will be a contest between ADC and APC because I do not see PDP in the picture of politicking in the state and nationally anymore.

“PDP in my opinion is a sublet of the ruling party, you all know why I’m saying that, PDP has endorsed APC already, so by the grace of God if I’m running under that party, ADC, it will be an election between me and whoever APC is putting forward.”
