Youths in the Borno South Senatorial District have launched a fundraising drive to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial nomination form for Senator Ali Ndume.

The initiative brought together youths from the nine local government areas of Southern Borno, led by their coordinator, Alhaji Babandi Shehu.

At a fundraising event held over the weekend in Maiduguri, the group raised over N38.5 million.
Shehu stated that the funds would be used to purchase the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the former Senate Leader.

He explained that the gesture was in recognition of Ndume’s contributions to the Southern Borno Senatorial District and his unwavering commitment to democratic governance.

“At this stage of Nigeria’s political development, the country needs senators like Ndume who can boldly check the excesses of the executive and speak truth to power, regardless of whose interests are affected.

We are here to contribute towards the purchase of his nomination form, not only because he has proven himself as a reliable representative of Southern Borno, but also because democracy needs voices like his,” Shehu said.

Speaking at the event, Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva, thanked the youths for what he described as a “selfless initiative.”
