Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has described opposition figures plotting to wrest power from President Bola Tinubu as “sore losers”.
At a press briefing in Abuja, on Thursday, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar declared that the opposition is ready to challenge Tinubu in 2027.
Answering questions on whether the opposition coalition press conference signaled the coming together of opposition leaders, Atiku had said, “This is the birth of the coalition of opposition ahead of 2027.″
Among the opposition leaders present at the press conference were Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, represented by Yunusa Tanko, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties, Peter Ameh, and Convener of The Alternative, Segun Showunmi.

In his reaction to the development, Onanuga said, “President Tinubu is focused on governance to build a prosperous country. He is on the way to achieving this. Two months to his midterm, he has many solid achievements to showcase. Intractable problems are being tackled headlong. He cannot be distracted by the so-called coalition of politicians. They are not politicians after the public Good. It’s all about their self-interest. They are disgruntled. They are a frustrated lot. The leaders are sore losers. The coalition is an amalgam of Tinubu haters. Their agenda is to stop Tinubu.”
