Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has inaugurated a Consensus Committee for aspirants under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He said the concencesus committee was constituted to harmonise the interests of all aspirants ahead of the forthcoming APC primaries and to bring together all party members who purchased nomination forms to contest various elective positions, with a view to achieving consensus and strengthening unity within the party.
He added that it was in line with prevailing electoral guidelines, which provide that only consensus and direct primaries are recognised, expressing confidence that the APC in Kebbi State would successfully adopt the consensus option, given its tradition of peace, loyalty and discipline.
“This committee comprises respected leaders with proven integrity and experience, who are well-positioned to deliver on the assignment,” he said.

He charged members to engage all stakeholders, reconcile differences among aspirants, and ensure smooth and acceptable consensus arrangement that will move the party forward.
Governor Idris expressed optimism that the committee would develop a clear roadmap for consensus, stressing that their work is crucial to maintaining the cohesion and electoral strength of the APC in Kebbi State.
He urged members of the committee to commence work immediately.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Ambassador Alhaji Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, said they would discharge their responsibilities diligently and in the best interest of the party and the state.
He assured that members would work collectively to achieve a fair and credible consensus process.
