2027: Isah Jibrin Denies Stepping Down From Kogi Senate Race

Senator Isah Jibrin has dismissed reports claiming that he had agreed not to contest the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries for Kogi East ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the lawmaker described the reports as false, fabricated, and the handiwork of “desperate political actors” bent on misleading the public and causing confusion within the party.

Jibrin said he never at any point withdrew from the race or authorised anyone to issue statements suggesting that he would not seek re-election to the Senate in 2027.

“I remain the authentic candidate of the APC in Kogi East and firmly committed to seeking the mandate of my people once again under the platform of our great party, the APC,” he stated.

The senator stressed that neither verbally nor in writing had he informed any individual, institution, or authority of any decision not to return to the Senate.

According to him, he remains focused and prepared to continue what he described as quality representation for the people of Kogi East Senatorial District.

Jibrin also urged the leadership of the APC, party stakeholders, and his supporters not to fall for what he called the antics of “fifth columnists” spreading propaganda and misinformation.

He alleged that the sponsors of the reports had resorted to blackmail and falsehood after failing to gain the support of the people.

“It is obvious that the sponsors of these fake reports have descended into panic mode. Having failed to gain the confidence and support of the people, they have resorted to crude propaganda, misinformation, and desperate underhanded tactics,” he said.

The senator maintained that no amount of sponsored propaganda or fabricated reports would diminish the support he enjoys across Kogi East.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, progress, and development of the senatorial district and called on party faithful and supporters to remain steadfast ahead of the 2027 elections.

Jibrin concluded by declaring himself “the authentic and formidable candidate” for the APC ticket in Kogi East Senatorial District in 2027.
