The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Kogi State Chapter has called on the Young people in the country to align with competence and performance in their choice of leadership, as activities towards 2027 general election kick off.

The Speaker of the YAN, Rt. Hon. Bologi Muhammed Yaba disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja on Monday at a unified Press conference.

He noted that in this era, the young people in the society need visionary leaders ,not “noise makers”, with “empty promises” to pilot their affairs .

“At this defining moment in our history—particularly for young people—we need more than a representative who merely occupies a seat

“Today, we align with competence over chance, vision over noise, and performance over empty promises”, said Yaba .

The youth group therefore enjoined the young people in the society to support and vote leaders that can “attract federal presence, create opportunities for our youths, protect our farmers, empower our women, and defend the interests of our constituency with strength and dignity”.

The kogi state chapter of YAN whose the spokesperson claimed to enjoy over 5000 membership drive across the 21 local governments in the state called on the youths, including women to join this movement for purposeful representation and sustainable development.

According to the spokesperson, the Kogi state chapter of YAN and the stakeholders have declared their unwavering support for president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for their second term re-election bid .

Also, the group threw their weight behind ex governor Yahaya Bello’s bid to represent Kogi Central Senatorial District at the red chamber , and Ambassador Mustapha Hassan Obaje for Idah Federal Constituency respectively.

The youth group attributed the choice of these leaders to their “track records of experience, courage, and progressive governance, including youth and women inclusiveness in act of governance.

Kogi YAN said in a statement: “After wide-reaching consultations with traditional leaders, community influencers, women groups, youth bodies, professionals, and grassroots mobilizers across our constituency, we have arrived at a decision that truly reflects the collective will and shared aspirations of our people.

“These endorsements are not isolated declarations. They represent our collective belief in continuity, stability, responsible governance, and visionary leadership.

“They reflect our commitment to progress over politics, development over division, and service over self-interest”.

The highlight of the activities was the endorsement proclamation on the four chosen leaders by the members of YAN , in conjunction with stakeholders and leaders of women groups.
