A political caucus within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
It also endorsed Dr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) as the party’s preferred governorship candidate in the state.
The group disclosed this at a well attended gathering of party leaders, stakeholders, and party members in Shao on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the convener of the Moro APC Progressive Caucus, Dr Bolaji Afolabi, who spoke on behalf of its leader, Chief Sunday Oyebiyi, said its decisions were guided by the need to sustain ongoing reforms, strengthen party unity, and consolidate development at both national and state levels.
Throwing its weight behind President Tinubu, the group cited the “bold economic reforms and decisive leadership since he assumed office”.
It listed key policies of the administration to include the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate unification, infrastructure investments, and the introduction of a student loan scheme.
According to the caucus, these measures, though challenging, are laying the foundation for long term economic stability and national growth.
“These actions reflect courage, vision, and a commitment to building a stronger Nigeria. We believe continuity is essential to consolidate these gains,” the caucus said.
On the 2027 governorship race in Kwara State, the group endorsed BOB, describing him as a capable and unifying figure with proven leadership credentials.
It noted that Bolarinwa, a former state chairman of the APC, played a key role in the party’s victory during the 2019 general elections and enjoys wide acceptance across stakeholders and grassroots communities.
The caucus further highlighted his role in the OTOGE political movement, his organisational strength, and his ability to foster unity within the party.
“Dr Bolarinwa possesses the vision, experience, and integrity required to take Kwara State to greater heights,” it said.
The group also made a case for the council to produce the next member of the House of Representatives in 2027.
It anchored the demand on the area’s consistent electoral support for the APC, strong grassroots mobilisation, and the availability of credible aspirants.
The caucus said allowing Moro to produce the next federal lawmaker would promote fairness, equity, and inclusive representation.
“We therefore appeal to the leadership of our great party to consider Moro LGA favourably in the spirit of justice and inclusiveness,” it added.
Reaffirming its loyalty to the APC, the caucus pledged continued support for the party’s leadership and programmes, expressing optimism about future electoral victories.
It said its resolutions were aimed at strengthening the party and advancing development in Kwara State and the country at large.
