Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has declared that by the 2027 general elections, there would be no opposition to his party in the state.
The governor made the remark on Tuesday in Jos, following the election of Rufus Bature as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State.
Bature and other members of the state executive committee emerged through a consensus arrangement.
Speaking after the exercise, Mutfwang expressed confidence that the party would remain dominant in the state ahead of the 2027 polls.
“By the grace of God, in 2027, we will only contest this election among ourselves. There will be no opposition in Plateau,” the governor said.
He added that the people of Plateau State have continued to show confidence in the party’s leadership and programmes.
“I believe the people of Plateau trust us, and they will continue to support us because they know we are working in their interest. The opportunity given to us will be used for the betterment of the people of the state. The time to unite Plateau is now,” he said.
The governor also stressed the need for unity, tolerance and reconciliation among party members, describing the APC as a family whose internal differences must not weaken its structure or shared aspirations.
While noting that some issues still required attention, Mutfwang assured members that all outstanding concerns would be resolved amicably in the overall interest of the party.
He congratulated Bature and other members of the state executive committee on their emergence, urging them to remain loyal to the party, the President and the people of Plateau State.
The governor further announced a one-month statewide membership drive, encouraging every registered party member to recruit at least ten new members.
“As evangelists of the party, I charge you to go to every nook and cranny of the state and persuade more people to join us. A bigger and stronger party will serve the interest of Plateau State better,” he said.
Mutfwang also urged members to promote the party’s e-membership registration initiative, noting that electoral success requires both a strong party structure and active grassroots mobilisation.
In his acceptance speech, Bature thanked party leaders and delegates for the confidence reposed in him and his team.
He described his re-election as both an honour and a responsibility, pledging to work diligently to meet the expectations of party members across the state.

Bature also highlighted achievements recorded during his previous tenure, including the election of three senators, 23 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, 17 local government chairmen and 325 councillors under the APC platform.
He assured members that the party leadership would continue to provide constructive oversight and support to ensure accountability and sustained electoral success.
