The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has stated that political activities ahead of the upcoming general elections will not slow down the pace of infrastructure development in the nation’s capital.
Wike made this assertion in Abuja while briefing journalists shortly after a routine inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects.
Fielding questions on the potential for political distractions, Wike emphasized that service delivery remains the top priority of the current administration.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and the infrastructural goals of the FCT Administration.
“Politics is different; you have to serve the people. Politics has its own time. The work will continue to go on, and politics is not going to affect it. If you look at it, the area councils’ elections are coming up in the next few weeks—are we not doing our work? It doesn’t affect us. What is important is for us to pay the contractors. From time to time, we will come and see the progress for ourselves. So, the politics of 2027 will not affect our job. The only way it will affect things is that people will be happy to see that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real,” he said.
Wike also provided updates on several key projects inspected during the tour, including collector Road C01 located within the Institute and Research District, linking Baze University, the Body of Benchers, Nile University, and the Wupa Train Station of the Abuja Light Rail.
Others include the construction progress on the administrative building of the body of benchers snnex and the road connecting Bill Clinton Drive to the Tungan Madaki community.
