A new dimension has been added to the 2027 political landscape in Adamawa State following the formal declaration of Engineer Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Yola North, Yola South and Girei Federal Constituency.

Ahmad made his intention known yesterday in Makama B Ward, Yola South Local Government Area, setting the stage for what will be a keenly contested race.

The aspirant anchored his bid on his track record in public service, particularly his tenure as Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, where he said he facilitated impactful projects across several communities, including within the constituency.

According to him, his experience at the federal level has equipped him with the capacity to drive meaningful development at the National Assembly.

“This is not just about contesting an election; it is about building a constituency where every voice is heard, opportunities are accessible, and development reaches every community,” he said.

Framing his ambition as a service-driven mission rather than mere political pursuit, Ahmad stressed the need for transparency, accountability, and sustained engagement between elected officials and constituents.

“My people demand a leader who will listen, act, and deliver. I am ready to bridge the gap between government and the people,” he added.

The engineer-turned-politician, who described himself as a lifelong public servant, said he rose through the ranks from a junior officer to a managing director, a journey he believes has prepared him to tackle governance challenges with practical and innovative solutions.

He outlined his priority areas to include infrastructure development, power supply, rural electrification, and water provision—sectors he described as critical to improving livelihoods across the constituency.

Ahmad also urged voters to assess aspirants based on competence, capacity, and verifiable records of service, maintaining that his performance in previous roles sets him apart.
