Senator representing Edo South Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Neda Imasuen, has declared his intention to seek re-election.

He made the declaration in Benin City at a meeting with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo South Senatorial District.

According to him, his decision to seek reelection was driven by the need to consolidate on his achievements and to enable him complete ongoing projects across the Edo South Senatorial District.

He said, “I am seeking reelection to consolidate on the gains we have recorded, complete ongoing projects and provide quality representation to our people with my experience as ranking senator,”

He appealed to the APC leadership in the District to emulate the Edo Central and the Edo North Senatorial Districts that endorsed their Senator for re-election.

“The Edo North and the Edo Central have all agreed to give their tickets to their serving senators so that they can go back to the national assembly as ranking senators. Let’s borrow a leaf from them so that I too can become a ranking officer at the Senate”.

He said as a first timer, he was lucky to occupy a vital position as Chairman Senate Committee Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions.

Such opportunity he said might not avail itself this time, hence, leadership must do all in their powers to ensure “my going back to the Senate as a ranking officer”.

He, however, called for unity among party members, saying victory would come not through division, but through synergy and cooperation.

Earlier, the senatorial leader and former deputy governor of the state, Pius Odubu, advised Senator Imasuen to go about his campaign peacefully.
